Hi!

I am managing HR for our UK branch from Dubai and am learning the ropes. Our current employee contract has a very broad statement regarding sick days, without giving a specific number per year that is allowed.

Is it standard practice to give a specific number of days permitted per year, or more standard in the UK to make broad statements about the actual number of days permitted.

As I understand the Labor Law, it seems that it is up to the employer if and how many days are permitted per year.

Perhaps this is a much more complex question than this, but I am just starting to dig into the HR issues with my new role.

Thank you
