I have been asked to try and find out anything about the legalities of this.
A person employed by the council
(Scotland) has been threatened with dismissal, and then re-employment, at a greatly reduced wage, under the auspices of the Equal Pay Act.
He either accepts the new contract and loses over £1000 per annum,and has no wage rise for 3 years, for the same job he has done for nearly 5 years, or , will be dismissed and re-employed at the new rate of the councils choice, losing all benefits, e.g extra holidays after 5 years service.
He is already at a low rate of pay.
