I have read the previous post regarding snow days, and I understand that, if an individual could not physically get to work due to the weather, how this is treated depends on the employer’s policy.
However, could someone please tell me what the legal position is if the employer decides to close the office due to bad weather – ie, anyone who has managed to get into work is sent home and everyone else is notified that they should not come in to work? NB Our contracts of employment are silent on this matter.
