We have an employee who appears to meet the requirements for SPL & SPP. The one grey area is that whilst he lives in the UK, the mother of his unborn baby lives in Thailand; will be giving birth in Thailand and will remain in Thailand. He has requested a mixture of annual leave and SPL to travel out to Thailand for a period of 4 weeks for the birth and to support the mother during this period.
I assume that as our employee is the biological father, will have some responsbility for the child’s upbringing and is taking the time-off to support the mother/child it makes no difference where they are located. Is this assumption correct?
