It has been suggested that the UK avoided the worst of the swine flu virus due to the onset of summer. It is thought, however, that the strain may return in the autumn, perhaps in a more virulent fashion than seen now. I would like to know what other companies are doing to prepare for it. I have one question in particular
Flu victims in the UK are currently advised not to visit their GP surgery. It is therefore unlikely that a medical certificate will be issued by a doctor. What attitude should we as an employer adopt towards employees who take time off claiming to have flu and who are absent for more than five days and who have no medical certificate?
Thank you for your anwers.
