We were having a discussion in the office yesterday about how we should be advising our Line Managers to manage agency workers within their departments. We have always advised not to manage agency workers in the same way as you would employees as this may give rise to an employment relationship. However we are confused as to what the proposed Agency Workers Legislation will mean on a day to day basis. If this gives agency workers the same rights as permanent employees (after a qualifying period of time) will this mean that we don’t have to manage them any differently and we should treat employee and workers the same?
