I am an HR manager that works for a company that contracts all employees (under the layer of manager) as General Associate (GA). This is what their respective employment contracts state for their job title. This includes Operators, Planning, QA, Finance, HR, Welfare, Admin etc.
My question is this, altough a person has a contract that states they are a GA, they have in fact worked for a number of years in say an admin role. Can the company move them to an operational (shop floor) GA role simply because their contracts state they are GA’s?
I have a number of staff in admin roles that have never worked on the shop floor since joining the company, some have been told they have to work anywhere a GA is required because their contracts state they are GA’s and must take any GA role. (there is no redundancy situation)
I would think that although the company employ most staff as GA’s there must be some line drawn somewhere!
