Our Trustees believe our staff get too many bank holidays leading to centres being closed longer than necessary and clients not being granted services. We currently get 11 bank holidays which include Good Friday, Easter Mon and Tuesday and August Bank Tuesday. We do not pay any enhanced rates for anyone who may work on bank hols

We are looking at methods to decrease at least the Friday and Tuesday bank holidays whilst maintaining the Monday ones.

One option we could consider is reducing bank holidays and increasing annual leave accordingly. This would give staff the same number of days but would increase flexibility for them booking leave and mean our centres could open longer.

An other alternative would perhaps be to buy out the ‘excess’ bank holidays instead of increasing annual leave but if we decide on this what would be a fair process.

There may, of course, be other ideas that we haven’t considered.

Any ideas would be most welcome
