We recruited a manager 5 months ago for one of our sites, in July a month after his probation had ended he notified senior management that he was having marital problems and would need 2 months off work and away fom home to sort these problems out, he said his intentions were to go and stay with family for 2 months (outside the country)to resolve whatever problems he was having.
After careful consideration he was advised by the company that they could’nt give him the 2 months as requested(due to business needs) but if he needed time away from home we could get him a bed and breakfast fully paid for by the company for a month and he could come to work form there. He turned down the offer and requested a month off instead (2 weeks to be paid holiday and the other 2 unpaid)the company then advised him that he could have the 2 weeks paid but the other 2 weeks unpaid was declined.
This manager has now notified us that he will take the 4 weeks despite only been granted 2 weeks. He leaves tomorrow.
i would like some advise on how to handle this situation taking into consideration that he has only being with the company 5 months and we have offered to help by getting him alternative accomadation for a month whilst he sorts out his problems

Your advise will be greatly appreciated
