What is the official status of students or interns who work for a not for profit religious organisation. They have their housing provided for and are given £30 pw subsistence allowance + claim travel expenses related to thier work in the community. They “sign up” for a year’s work.
Are they employees? i.e. are they recieving a taxable benefit in kind?
Or are they residential students? Or a religious community?
