In light of the latest rigged phone in scandal the BBC has decided to train its staff in “truthfullness and honesty”.
Am I alone in thinking that this isn’t a training need? As a trainer I like to get paid to deliver meaningful work and I don’t feel that this is it.
How can you train someone to be honest? Either they are or they aren’t.
Company policy can reflect an obligation to honesty – you can even send out communications to that effect and warning of the penalties. But I’m not sure that training in this instance has any value.
What do you think?
