Big-smoke top for work-life balance

Despite the English capital’s unfriendly image, Londoners believe they have the best work-life balance in the UK, according to a report from Working Families

Ram-packed tube trains and rocketing property prices have failed to put off almost two thirds of London’s workers, who feel they have the best equilibrium between their time at the office and at home.

Employees in Northern Ireland scored the lowest (33%) in the survey by the work-life-balance campaign organisation, with regions in Norther England also scoring poorly. Yorkshire, Scotland and the South West all scored around 60%.

While a vast number of respondents said that finding a proper balance was crucial, two thirds admitted to staying late at work and many claimed to have cancelled social engagements due to office commitments.
