It’s been another busy week on HRzone. We are getting used to the Liberal Conservative coalition, although some still have their suspicions, and leadership and life must go on, so what better week to address some employment law issues?
Layla Bunni was on the case this week of a bullying line manager asking what happens when sorry seem to be the easiest word – just because someone apologises, does it make it right?
We also opened the Generation Y can of worms again – how is engaging them different? At the other end of the scale, it may well come as no surprise that 2/3 of people don’t want to retire at the official retirement age – however, poor health and financial planning may well shatter those dreams…
With the news that the BA strikes were defeated by a court order on a technicality, we also presented our ultimate guide to coping with the ash cloud which was still causing disruption at the beginning of the week- if you still feel under prepared for the unexpected, this is the place to start.
Social media was again hitting our headlines too: a landmark case ruling in America that Facebook and other social media sites can be used as evidence in court, and the court can order the retrieval of information, despite security settings. And also, with one in 10 of those under 35 moaning about their boss online, there could be a lot ofevidence to uncover!
