It’s easy to find yourself at this time of the year a little less motivated than usual. Even the most motivated employees can go through slumps and need that boost to get back on track. Here are some top tips on ways to get motivated at work:
1. Have a clear vision
Refocus. Think about how your role and work contribute to the bigger picture and focus on the things that are going to have real impact. It is amazing what you will achieve once you have zoomed in on your precise goals and can focus on them and visualise yourself achieving them.
2. Getting organised
It’s easy to get bogged down when you have multiple high priority things to complete. I break down my various projects into manageable tasks that feel more achievable. This gives me a feeling of control over my workload and deadlines. I have learned the more organised you are and easier it is to focus and stay motivated and you are less likely to fall into a state of panic or insecurity.
3. Thinking Positively
Having a positive mental attitude is the key for day to day success. To start the day thinking that you can get everything done will set the tone. Focus on positives regardless of how small they are. It’s just as important to have a clear mind and practising things such as Mindfulness can really help and with so many app’s available, it’s easy to slip it into your daily/weekly routine.
Besides the pay, I work because it makes me feel connected, useful and it helps me realise my potential. When you lack motivation for the work you do it’s good to remind yourself of why you do it.
