According to Tom Peters recently who is well known for his love (not) of MBA’s he would rather make his own MBA programme for positive listening!
The Tom Peter’s claim and example was that on average 18 seconds is the typical Doctor/ patient pause time for questions and reply answers. Good listening is not common practice in business today at any status level.
The ‘golden silence’ is a well known concept in Japanese business practice. Why do we not listen more than we talk?
If only applied in today’s business work environment (the 18 second rule), how long do you really get before you get interrupted by your boss or colleague in dialogue flow?
A case for positive listening!
