Chester business supports marriage plans

pp_default1

In a break of tradition, a Chester based business; The Funding Corporation (TFC) has rewarded an extra week’s paid holiday for employees who tie the knot.

The Working Time Directive stipulates that employees must be allowed four weeks paid holiday per year. This may include bank holidays and is a right applicable to all employees, regardless of length of service.

Bride, Lian Ephgrave, an HR administrator with TFC said: “It made the difference between potential chaos – and a completely calm run up to the wedding. Instead of running around trying to pull everything together it was smooth and relaxed.”

Stress, is often reported to be one of the biggest causes of lost productivity, costing business billions of pounds. In a survey of 4,100 people by payroll recruitment firm Portfolio Payroll, conducted this year, 91% of employees were found to suffer from stress.

David Titmuss, a director of TFC commented: “Everybody gets 25 days holiday, 26 with a birthday – and a further five if or when they get married. A wedding is a big day. It takes a lot of planning – and we know people will be distracted if they’re working right up to the wire, so we encourage them to take a week off in advance.”

HRZone invites you to share your business practices with the community. Would you consider adopting a similar approach to holiday allowances for special events? Post your comments below.
