TrainingZONE and HR Zone offer congratulations and a well deserved “well done” to sister site AccountingWEB for their success in the New Media Awards last night.
Read on for details!
Last night in London, AccountingWEB won the best business website prize in the 2001 New Media Age Effectiveness Awards .
Those of you who remember Ben Heald’s pioneering “Prudent Surfer” newswire, which started nearly four years ago, will be aware of the incredible strides AccountingWEB has made. With more than 140,000 global members, we are now the largest, and most successful organisation serving the online accountancy community in the UK, the US and the Netherlands.
Handing over the cut crystal trophy to Ben and myself, the judges commented, “AccountingWEB is a great resource for the industry it serves in terms of both news and depth of information. The site is extemely well made and has humanised the accounting industry with its humourous and lighthearted approach”
For all of us involved in AccountingWEB, there has been a lot of hard work and anguish. We cannot ignore, for example, IR35 which has fuelled debate on the site for the past two years. But it has also been a lot of fun creating a community that has real value for its users and gets such immediate and positive feedback.
As an AccountingWEB member and visitor to the website, you are the key to our success. The comments, contributions and questions you post are what makes AccountingWEB work. So give yourself a pat on the back, too.
The award also gives us an opportunity to shine the spotlight on our backroom team. The programmers, producers and support staff at our parent company Sift have created the world-class SiftGroups infrastructure. This is what makes AccountingWEB effective and allows us to bring you all the articles and online tools that make AccountingWEB a vital part of your working day.
Thanks and congratulations to Kevin Glass, Joel Hammond-Turner, Andy Osborne and the rest of the techie crew; webmaster Paul Morris; customer services manager Sarah Miller and her team; e-commerce manager Jeremy Arnold; plus Jon Miles, Tom Dunkerley and Rachel Devitt, who sell the ads and pay our wages.
There are also the names you see most often on the site and in our newswires: the editorial and community team of Anne Bennett, Richard Norton, John Stokdyk, Gary Mackley-Smith and Rob Benson. Our thanks to them, the New Media Age judges and, once again, you our members.
Hugo Vint, Managing Director, AccountingWEB
