The government has announced that there will be a review of the 1999 Employment Relations Act 1999, which will look at, among other things, union recognition, the right of employees to be accompanied at disciplinary meetings, the rights of those on strike, and collective agreements.
The review will also look at other aspects of the Act, including the role of ACAS, aspects of the TUPE regulations, and the extension of employment rights.
A full public consultation is expected towards the end of this year; a list of areas due to be covered by the review can be found on the DTI website.
