Social Media definition
Refers to media in which content is produced, shared and consumed by users. Mostly centred around a handful of online websites that provide platforms for these activities to occur. The most common social media platforms include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+.
For the HR function, social media can be used to positive effect in a number of areas. With regard to recruitment, HR professionals can reach out to potential candidates at no cost and have access to a far larger pool of potential talent than via traditional methods.
