Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) definition
An American term that relates to an internal codified policy stating that the employer will not discriminate in any part of the employment process due to race, colour, marital status, disability, gender, country of origin, religion or age. The document is enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, an organisation with responsibility for enforcing federal discrimination laws. The majority of employers with over 15 employees are covered by EEOC laws, although this extends to 20 employees with regard to age discrimination.
