Editor’s note
=============
Maternity wards have received an ear-bashing this week for poor
conditions, bad management and staff shortages. And for
expectant mothers the support needed in the workplace looks
short at hand too.
Gillian Mackie highlights just one example of an employee who
took her right to additional maternity leave only to discover
that her company had closed and moved location.
Does she have any recourse for action? Are you of the Peter
Stanway ‘so what?’ school of thought or do you advocate Quentin
Colborn’s viewpoint that this is a clear case of unfair
dismissal? Have your say on whether poor maternity practice
should be rooted out.
