Director of people at BT honoured with OBE in 2010 New Year’s honours.
Caroline Waters, director of people and policy at BT, was given an OBE for services to diversity and equal opportunities. Waters has led the telecoms giant’s efforts to open up careers to more women and ethnic minorities, and is also chair of the Employers’ Forum on Belief, Employers For Carers and Employers For Fathers. She regularly provides advice and guidance to government and industry on diversity fields and sits on a host of committees and steering groups, including the Department for Constitutional Affairs Equality Schemes Reference Group, the DRC Disability Debate Expert Steering Group and the Home Office Migration Employers Taskforce.
Other HR professionals to receive OBEs included Heather Lawrence, chief executive of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Ghulam Rasul Shahzad of Rochdale Council; and David Mark Wood, chief executive of Attend, an organisation that supports volunteering in health and social care.
