Practical jokers create office havoc at Christmas

pp_default1

Three out of four workers play practical jokes in the office over the Christmas period; a trend that is angering bosses.

According to a new survey by fish4jobs, a recruitment website, as Christmas looms, 46 per cent of office workers will be upping the ante on the number of jokes played.

Surprisingly, 16 per cent of the practical jokes played in the run up to Christmas are by management. The biggest pranksters to watch out for are the sales team (53 per cent) closely followed by IT (8 per cent). Half admit prank calls is their joke of choice.

The CEO of fish4jobs, Joe Slavin, said: “The workplace environment should be an inviting place that allows staff to stay upbeat and jovial, therefore raising productivity. Humour is very important in the workplace and at fish4 we always strive to gain a good balance between work and play. The odd little joke helps to unite the team, especially as Christmas deadlines loom, but workers must remember that its not all about fun, there is still a job to be done.”
