SAP Introduces E-Recruiting Capability for Human Capital Management

Shell Among Companies to Roll Out New Functionality
to Increase Quality and Efficiency of Recruitment and Talent Relationship Management

WALLDORF, Germany — Nov. 6, 2002 — SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the delivery of automated, Internet-based e-recruiting capabilities in its industry-leading human resources solution mySAP™ Human Resources (mySAP HR). mySAP HR E-Recruiting comprises the key features of talent warehouse, requisition management, and posting management to comprehensively cover and streamline key recruitment processes—from recruitment planning and job posting to hiring and retaining talent. The capability enables human resources professionals to better identify qualified candidates and manage relationships with current and potential employees.

“We are convinced that the concept of e-recruiting, covering internal as well as external talent management and recruiting processes, will considerably improve the way we manage existing staff and new talent,” said Freek Meijer, HR business process architect at Shell, the global energy company of the Royal Dutch / Shell Group, one of the first companies to roll out mySAP HR E-Recruiting. “This new solution from SAP will enable our HR managers to excel in recruiting and retaining highly qualified personnel.”

Online career sites and recruitment services have provided HR managers quicker access to a broader pool of potential candidates. mySAP HR E-Recruiting leverages the speed and reach of the Internet with tools to improve procedures for finding qualified candidates and to strengthen the relationship between companies and potential employees. As HR managers today must constantly evaluate, identify, and establish good relations with the best-suited candidates both within and outside of their organizations, new approaches such as talent relationship management are playing an evermore-important role in helping companies maintain qualified workforces.

The basis for talent relationship management in mySAP HR E-Recruiting is the talent warehouse, a central database of employees and external candidates. This feature provides HR personnel with a comprehensive overview of their current and potential talent pool. The talent warehouse helps HR to optimally fill current job openings and maintain ongoing relationships with qualified candidates for whom no positions are currently open. This feature can integrate external and internal recruitment into a single, standard platform, where candidates can increase career options while line management gains a larger pool of potentials.
Workflow-based tools help streamline requisition and job-posting processes. The requisition management functionality enables an automated flow of information and tasks. HR staff can easily generate requisitions that are then sent to the respective managers for approval. If approval is granted, the system generates a job announcement that can be automatically distributed with the posting management feature of mySAP HR E-Recruiting.

Seamless integration into mySAP HR enables customers to leverage global organizational and HR data throughout the recruiting processes. The further integration of analytic and financial tools such as SAP® Business Information Warehouse and mySAP™ Financials will make mySAP HR E-Recruiting a powerful tool for evaluating and identifying the most effective recruitment channels and aligning recruitment with overall corporate strategy and budget planning.

“No other area of HR is currently undergoing such dynamic changes as the area of recruitment,” said Elena Ordóñez, senior vice president for the Human Capital Management Global Business Unit at SAP. “While taking advantage of the speed of the Internet as a ‘quantity’ recruitment channel, a new ‘quality’ approach is needed to efficiently attract the best-qualified candidates. Based on our experience providing human capital management solutions for companies of all sizes, SAP has the expertise to meet today’s recruiting requirements with an innovative, integrated approach.”

mySAP HR E-Recruiting will be available for customers on a global basis in the second half of 2003.
