Liquidators from BDO Stoy Hayward are to sell the 170,000-strong CV database of Stepstone, the online recruiter that hit the rocks last year.
The firm has appointed an agency to sell the data, which comes on two CDs. Customer details, including email addresses, are part of the package.
The offer has raised concerns over data protection, but the firm has taken legal advice on the issue. Stepstone customers were told that their data could be passed on when they joined the service.
The internet firm went under after its Norwegian parent company withdrew financial support for the UK arm as part of a re-evaluation of its presence in Europe.
