Chartered surveyors and accountants are the wildest party goers according to research by Christmas party organiser West End Events.
Antics including dancing on tables, and singing rugby songs were just some of the things that singled them out as the most spirited Christmas party revellers.
Young workers in their 20s were found to head straight for the bar consuming over six glasses of wine at the office bash according to the research.
Sixty-three percent of respondents admitted to turning up to work with a hangover following the office Christmas party while 50% were not content with partying with colleagues, preferring ‘shared parties’.
Russell Davey of West End Events said: “It’s clear from the research that the office Christmas party is considered to be very important to staff because it makes them feel valued and improves staff morale, but it is also seen as an excuse to celebrate the company’s achievements.” The average amount spent by companies on the office bash is £70 a head and the most popular type of office party is a sit down meal with disco and entertainment.
Party organisers playing ‘I wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’ by Wizzard, ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ by Slade and ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas by Band Aid,’ are most likely to get even the most reserved of workers on the dance floor according to the research.
A 1000 workers were surveyed.
The findings go hand-in-hand with latest news by researchers IRS Employment Review which shows that 72% of the 124 organisations surveyed pan to throw a Christmas party this year. See the full story here: Employers prepare to party at Christmas.
