ONE is a new service for delivering benefits to people of working age. It brings together the Employment Service, the Benefits Agency and Local Authorities to deliver a more integrated benefit service, providing clients with a single point of entry to the benefit system. New and repeat benefit claimants are allocated a Personal Adviser, with the aim of offering clients a work focused benefit service, tailored to meet individuals’ needs.
The ONE service was introduced between June and November 1999 in 12 pilot areas in Great Britain. Three different models for delivering ONE are being piloted:
- a Basic Model;
- a Call Centre Model;
- and a Private/Voluntary Sector (PVS) Model.
