I am trying to establish what the current practice is in relation to giving employment references for previous employees.
At the moment if we receive a reference request we will contact the line manager and provide a written reference. However after talking to a contact in another company, she told me that they only confirm the dates of employment, discipline record and provide no character reference.
Is this common?
