Our company policy states that all company mobile phone users including European HGV drivers must highlight their personal calls on each phone bill, and reimburse the company through payroll.

When the wife of one of our drivers needs to speak to him, she calls him on his company mobile – sometimes several times during each night. She pays some of the call charge but the mobile phone provider also charges the company. He says he can’t stop his wife calling him on his company mobile phone and doesn’t see why he has to reimburse the company.

We’re considering a £50 monthly allowance for personal incoming calls only.

Any thoughts as to what’s “reasonable”? If anyone has a copy of a policy, it’d be really helpful.
