Our annual blanket pay increase was announced recently. An employee has approached me and for personal reasons does not want to receive the increase.

Is it okay to just get him to put something in writing that states that he doesn’t want it?

Our employees are all graded and paid accordingly. If he doesn’t take the pay increase he will not be receiving the same pay as others doing the same work? We wouldn’t normally do this as it’s unfair but it’s at his request.
