Bearing in mind where America goes we are bound to follow.
The US Department of Homeland Security plans to launch a campaign this Autumn to encourage employers to sign up for its Basic Pilot verification system.
As of mid-August, 10,724 US employers were already using Basic Pilot. In the system, companies submit citizenship and work authorisation information, which is checked against Social Security and the US DHS databases. This give instant verification in about 85% of cases.
With recent incidents like the illegal immigrants found working in Government Offices and the general complaints about the government is not doing enough to control illegal workers.
I have some basic questions:
How long do people think it will take before a similar scheme is suggested for the UK.
Would you find such a scheme useful?
Would you support such a scheme?
If not what are the alternatives?
Have you had experiences of illegal workers?
If yes how easy did you find it to report the illegal worker?
