Dear All,
I would appreciate some help / guidence on the following :
On May 9th I discovered that I had made an error at work back in February – I immediately informed by manager and explained what happened, took steps to rectify the problem, and measures to prevent this error happening again in the future.
On 24th June (some 7 weeks later) my manager gave me a letter advising me of a disciplinary hearing on the 28th June.
The hearing was held and I have just today received my letter (2 weeks later) advising me of the outcome.
The letter states “You were requested to attand a hearing at Stage Level 2 of the company’s disciplinary procedure”
This came as a big surprise as I was expecting a verbal warning or Stage 1 at the very most.
I was never advised that the disciplinary was Stage 2 – if I was, I would have taken a witness into the meeting with me.
The above sequence (and particularly the timing)does not look right – I am worried that this issue is being used to further another agenda.
Could anybody advise the best way forward (I have 5 working days in which I can appeal).
BP
