Given recent changes in the advice given to companies on the provision of references for new jobs, we only provide a confirmation of the employee’s role with the company and their dates of employment. This would in turn mean that a hardworking and consciencious employee would receive the same reference as a mediocre one.

Does anyone else adopt this practice and do you consider it to have an impact on employee motivation?
