We all work extremely hard; we all put our heart and soul into our jobs and we all do it day in and day out. Whatever motivates us to do this, whether it’s love for a company that has treated us well, the pay packet at the end of the month or the amazing holiday allowance, keeping us happy in our roles means that we’ll continue to work hard, put our heart and soul into our jobs and turn up day in and day out. Motivation is no easy task for any manager, team leader or CEO, but as little as a few words of thanks and a pat on a back can do wonders for employee morale and motivation. There are plenty of other ways you can reward your employees for good work though, and employee benefit schemes are a direct route to a happy and hardworking workforce.
If you want the best out of your workers, you need to let them know you care, let them know that you understand their hard work, their long hours and their dedication to the role. A work meal is a great start, just like annual events and staff outings are great for bonding and a short term morale boost, but there is so much more you can do to reward hard work and targets met.
Share and pension schemes are the obvious and offering them is great for engaging your employees with the ongoing success of your company. Pension schemes are always in demand and under the pension reforms, by next year, all companies will be obligated to supply some sort of pension.
The key to employee benefits is always going to be options. Much like the variations in their working styles, they’re all very different and each employee wants different things. Some will want insurance, others healthcare plans and yet others the option to turn their hard work into vouchers they can spend at their favourite shops. Limiting benefit schemes is only going to limit the amount of employees a company can reward properly and rewarding your employees how they want to be rewarded will, in turn, lead to a more motivated workforce.
There are plenty of employee benefits coconsultancies that deal with employee reward schemes, and many that will work with your business to develop the appropriate benefits plan that fits around the needs of the employees and your current bonus schemes. Many of the top companies also have their own software, allowing both you and your employees to track the ins and outs of the scheme, allowing for simple budget tracking and communicating the benefit options and allowances available to each of your workers.
What’s better for motivation than when rewards for hard work, immaculate attendance and meeting company targets are trackable and traceable and selectable by the individual? We’re not saying that businesses should cut out the pats on the back and the congratulatory speeches, but if you want a workforce running on full capacity, highly motivated and dedicated to the success of their own work and the company as a whole, then rewarding their successes and focusing on employee wellbeing and happiness should be your first port of call.
