Too many employers ignore school leavers and the over 50s when choosing job candidates.

The Code of Practice on Age Diversity in Employment is a voluntary set of Good Practice standards to help employers recognise the business benefits of an age-diverse workforce.

The Code encourages employers to make decisions that do not discriminate on age, through six aspects of the employment cycle. Each section contains guidance, indicators of success, and case study examples of how other organisations have tackled some of the issues:

  • Recruitment
  • Selection
  • Promotion
  • Training and development
  • Redundancy
  • Retirement

To find out how your business could benefit from greater age diversity through improved staff retention, lower recruitment expenses, better morale, and higher productivity, visit www.agepositive.gov.uk, to get your free copy of the Age Diversity Code of Practice.
