I was wondering if i could get some advice. we have an employee that has worked for the company for over 5 years, her attendance record is appalling, and according to what i have been told several managers have tried to manage her in the past but have failed. The situation with her is she takes off for about a month without any contact and then when she starts receiving letters from the company she reappears just before the final letter saying her contract will be terminated. The last time she did this when she returned to work, her manager had a meeting with her and there was no real reason for absence she was given a written warning as a result of this.Things were fine for a while and then she took off again in june this time around for 5 weeks. She came back after the 5th week with a doctors certificate for a week. The 5 weeks prior to this were not covered. The doctors cert stated the reason for absence as nervous disability. When the sick cert expired she sent in another one also for the same illness and this expired on the 14th of july. Whilst all these were happeinig this employee has been given a consent form to sign so we can approach her Gp.This has been done and we are just waiting for a response from the Gp.
My question is this, the sick cert expired on the 14th of June she hasnt sent in a new one and she has not made any contact. when contacted by us she told us she will return to work and she hasnt. What can we do in the meantime whilst waitng for the GP to respond. Something else that i have noticed is the GP that signed the sick cert she presented to us isn’t the same Gp she is registered with neither was it signed at the same Gp’s surgery. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
