An employee is booked on a 4 day course away from home. Hotel accommodation is booked by the company in “travel lodge” type rooms (a room rate is paid not per person) to “cut down on costs”. The company then insists that 2 people of the same sex share this room. In some instances, a double bed is the only sleeping facility (ie there is no sofa bed in the room).
What are the employee’s rights? what grounds can they cite for refusing to comply?
Any help would be most welcome!

I have a gut feeling about this one on H&S / insurance at the very least; never mind, the privacy issue!
