We’re a software engineering company comprising 350 permanent members of staff. In common with many in the IT sector, 2002 and 2003 have been difficult years, resulting in low salary increases and reduction in the training budget. Obviously we can’t share balance sheet details and profit and loss forecasts, but in general terms what are others in the industry forecasting for salary increases next year? Additionally, what are others spending on training as a percentage of turnover for 2004 and how has this differed to other years? My instinct and reports in the press suggest an upturn.
