We have had a number of employees off sick recently with bugs/flu/bronchitis but most have only taken a couple of days off as they only qualify for SSP. Their main problem is that they can’t afford to be off sick but the other problem is that their bugs are spreading unnecessarily.

I have one employee who has been signed off for 10 days but has come back within 2 days. Apart from agreeing to pay her on the basis that she stays on sick leave is there anything else that can be done? I would pay her to stay off but that is not my decison unfortunately!
