I want to set up a scheme through payroll of salary sacrifice childcare vouchers (cost neutral to the company). I want to keep basic pay and show the voucher as a deduction? Is this possible or does this have to be a pure salary sacrifice which permanently reduces salary and has the shortfall made up by voucher? Also, is it possible in such a scheme to vary the amount month by month?
I am getting conflicting advice as to how to operate it through payroll from various voucher providers and by my payroll provider?
