I wondered if anyone has guidelines on employing partners or relatives of existing staff members, or any useful experiences they could share?

A senior employee has recommended her partner for a vacancy within her department. We are a company of 45 staff with a robust interviewing system whereby all candidates are assessed objectively against others.

At this stage I have good reason to believe that this candidate will be the right person for the job.

In addition, assuming he becomes an employee, he may in future need to report directly into his partner.

I am concerned about issues such as confidentiality and impartiality.

Can anybody offer guidance, or suggest potential problems that may arise that we need to consider?
