I have an employee who has been provided with an adequate work chair, however, he has purchased and brought into work a ball chair as he believes it will help his back.

I have told him that I need to investigate fully, but if I can find nothing wrong he would only be able to use it at his own risk and only if he ensures that it does not become a danger to other employees.

Obviously I will put it in writing to him but is there anything else I need to consider or can anyone see any potential problems with this.

Many thanks
Barbara Joyce
