I had a customer come into my store i could not help him with his problem & he proceeded to get angry swearing and shouting abuse at me and a colleague. He then proceeded to shout at my assistant manager and to say i wanna make a complaint it was then that i said go ahead make your complaint lets shake on that & let that be the end of it. To which he replied no chance i might get aids…Anyways the next thing i know he is shouting abuse further at me and asking me outside for a fight? Well i got up and went to the middle of the shop and started to talk to other customers he continued to shout abuse at me from outside the shop door. my latest customer asked me to do something about him so walked with my arms behind my back to the front door he stepped close to my face spitting over my glasses so i turned to take them off the moment i looked back towards him i was put in a headlock and attacked i was bleeding from cuts so i fought back once i got free i stopped and went downstairs.
At no point did my assistant manager step in or remove this customer…He told me afterwards we had no recording cctv…So now i have been dismissed for defending myself.
The exact reason is this ” You had opportunities to leave the shopfloor which you failed to take which led to an act of violence towards a customer therefore you are dismissed with immediate effect ” Do i have any case at all for unfair dismissal or anything else to go on.
My colleagues believe it was the new manager who took over since the incident that has got me out as he did not like me when he met me he said i was arrogant because i wa good at my work could i have been fitted up here.
All help is much appreciated
