A friend has been temping via an agency for her present employer for just under a year and a half. The thing is because of this her ‘contract’ is with the employment agency and I feel she is missing out on other benefits she would receieve if she was classed as a permanent employee.

For example, she only has to give one weeks notice should she wish to terminate the assignment, this works both ways. She has no sick pay and is only allowed to take holiday days that she has already accrued.

In addition her boss has been paying agency fees per hour for her when I think the decent thing to do would be for the agency to let her
employer ‘have her’ free of charge as they have charged him a princely sum for the last 18 months.

So, in a nutshell the question is, how long are you allowed to ‘Temp’ for??

Thanks!
