My company is currently looking for a Team Secretary, and I'm in charge of building the assessment centre materials that candidates will complete before the face to face interview.

One of the key requirements of the role is a high level of minute-taking skills, as we expect the number of formal meetings that need to be minuted to significantly increase. When we previously recruited for a similar role, we had the interviewers discuss a project plan in front of the candidate, and asked the candidate to take notes and type them up afterwards, but I'm not sure this is still the best option, as upcoming meetings will involve more complex topics, and often confidential information as well. The current interviewers have little experience of these topics, and may not be able to stage a discussion along these lines; however, I'd be quite keen to increase the level of difficulty of the minute-taking test, as the previous one does not suit our current requirements.

Have you ever implemented, or do you know about any effective tests to assess this skill? If so, please let me know what they involved, and if there are any materials you could possibly share.

Many thanks,

Federica
