Four months ago I was appointed to a position to which it is painfully apparent I am overqualified – to the extent that I am more experienced than both of my managers. Needless to say it’s not been an easy time as a result.
Now I am coming up to the end of my probation period and am panicking that the company will terminate it on the grounds that I don’t fit in. I think they made the wrong appointment but am trying to make it work, but there’s not much effort being made on their part as their priority is to have someone who can do this job.
Can they terminate my contract on the grounds of capability, even though I’m over-capable? I feel I’m paying the price for their mistake.
I know I have no employment rights in this matter so want to keep it informal.
