Does anyone have any experience of calculating company sick pay for part-timers?
As a small business operating a health and fitness club our employees are given up to 5 days paid company sick pay each year. After this amount is exhausted SSP is implemented.
The contractual terms have been in existence since the start of the company in the early 90’s. The contracts at that time did not state that if you were part-time the company sick pay would be pro-rated according to an individual’s weekly hours (as it would be for the holiday entitlement).
We suspect that our employees who are part-time have historically enjoyed the full 5 day entitlement each year even though they might not work a full week.
Anybody else’s experience in this regard would be greatly received!
