We recently recruited for a position and appointed, recieved satisfactory references and sent a letter of offer and recieved a letter of acceptance in return. The candidate then phoned up two days before she was meant to start and said that she had accepted another job and wouldn’t be starting with us.
Bearing in mind the cost of her recruitment, and the fact that if we had turned her down at such a late date she could have gone for unfair dismissal, is there any action we can take to reclaim some of the costs?
