SME operating in the construction industry. Two years back an employee went on maternity leave and requested to move to permanent part time hours when returning back to work. By reshuffling duties and workloads of the other two staff in the office (wher this employee works) we were able to accommodate her request, creating a stand-alone part time post for her, and the whole situation has worked very well A year later the employee is feeling the pinch financially and has now requested a change of her hours back to full time. Unfortunately the credit crunch and recession have hit the company, business is not as booming as it was a couple of years ago and there really isn’t the work avaiable for a full time post. How does the situation stand? Does this employee have a legal right to return to full time hours? Many thanks to anyone who can advise
