This forum seems to spend all its time trying to find different ways to pin people down or screw them out of the last grain of rice that they thought they had earned.

How long will it take to realise that performance is directly related to control.

The more control that you attempt to exert the less the people you are trying to control are able to perform.

If instead of asking how I can grind this person down even more, we start to ask what does this person need in order to realise their potential, then we would find ourselves in a position where we did not have to worry about trying to bleed the last halfpenny out of a sick employee because we would come to realise that they are on the same side as we are.

We all want to do a good job.

The things that stop people from doing a good job are the controls that we try to exert.

What has to happen before we realise the destructive effect of these controls on the workforces ability to perform?
